Acupuncture is well known for its ability to alleviate pain. For example; the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) includes a course of acupuncture treatment as one of the recommended ways of treating persistent, non-specific low back pain within the NHS.
Acupuncture can often have immediate effects on acute pain problems.
Traditional Chinese Medicine as a whole makes use of an approach which has been used for literally millennia in the treatment of numerous chronic pain conditions. Acupuncture, Cupping, Tui Na massage, Gua Sha, Herbal Medicine are among the techniques used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This approach seeks not only to alleviate the pain, but to get at the root of what is causing the pain in the first place.
